The Tesoro Compadre is one of the easiest metal detectors to use so if you’re a technophobe or buying for a kid this is a great choice. Very high sensitivity will pick up small earrings for example, but also iron particles in the soil. 3 tone audio identification can ping out audio tones set to differing metals, so set gold to high for example and listen for the high pitched tones. The Teknetiks PRO has variable iron discrimination that you can adjust from 0-39, and FEtone which allows you to adjust the tones emitted from targets.
It’s your job to drop tin foil, nails, coins and gold in your yard and play with discrimination. As you increase discrimination the machine will ignore other metals like tin foil, can tabs, nails, and coins. Low discrimination means all metal including soil minerals, are picked up. A machine with ground balancing detects what type of ground you’re on, and eliminates the unwanted minerals in response.
There’s also a handy depth indicator so you’ll know how far to dig, and the multi-tone audio will let you know what you’ve found without consulting the screen, which is handy in bright daylight. The ACE400 is a solid all-round detector you’ll love to play with.
There’s gold in them there hills, rivers, beaches, and deserts but to stand the best chance of finding gold a specialist gold detector pays dividends. Ok, so unless you’re an experienced diver detecting a shipwreck is a bit far out, but gold nuggets are buried in many places especially rivers.
If you’re looking for exciting treasure over trash turn the adjustable sensitivity down. All metal will obviously detect everything, full discrimination will ignore low-value targets like iron, and tone discrimination will emit a different tone for each find. Would you consider The Garrett GTI2500 to be an out-dated machine?
A battery in the top of the metal detector activates the transmitter circuit (red) that passes electricity down through a cable in the handle to the transmitter coil (red) at the bottom. Even so, the Titanium Camo picked up our buried objects of various metals 86 percent of the time, the most of any metal detector we tested.
While most metal detectors don’t give very accurate depth readings, the Titanium Camo fared the best in our tests and was an easy, fun metal detector to use. Activities may not occur in areas where someone holds a park reservation permit or during special events in the park. This list may be amended at any time by the Director of Parks and Recreation. The plug-in-and-go design ensures consistent voltages, which optimizes sensitivities unlike batter-operated unites which lose sensitivity.
